Qui suis-je?

Bonne question!

I've been posting on this blog for a week now and have consistently promised pictures with no results.. so here we go! I'm going to take my own turn on the classic French essay question: Qui suis-je?

I am Alexandra. Lover of life, and under that general theme falls four important categories: writing, music, dancing, and food. This is a picture of me celebrating because I finished making a chocolate-fondant-covered-strawberry-cake.

Only child, two great parents who have been quite supportive on my decision abroad. I guess they're cool. (By that I mean, all of my friends... I mean all of them... absolutely love my parents. Yeah, they are actually pretty cool, I'll admit that.)

By only child, I mean I have a dog that may as well be a sister (especially given that the dog has replaced my absence what with college and now study abroad.) She's the cutest fourteen-year-old-puppy you'll ever meet. Look at this picture, and tell me she's not the cutest. Pictures are proof, my friend.

I'm from Long Island, land of the strip-malls, but there is a lot of natural beauty if you find it, and I've been fortunate enough to have parents that exposed me to it pretty much every weekend of my entire life.

Now that I come to think of it, there's another very important category of my life that I was remiss to forget... travelling. The first time I was on a plane, I was just over a month old. It's in my blood to go places, whether it be somewhere on LI, another state, or even... another country. Cool stuff.

I love my friends, from home, school, and everywhere in between. Yeah, that's obvious, I know, but I mean.. I really mean it. They mean the world to me. I have been surrounded by loving, good-hearted people my entire life, and I feel honored to consider them my own friends. Listing them would be a treacherous task because I love people... it would take a while. So here's a picture of a rainbow cupcake, a dessert we pretty much make as a tradition back at school. Did I mention I like cooking? I do that for my friends, a lot. It's how I show affection. But this particular cupcake is something we often do together :)

I also have a super large family, on both ends. It's pretty awesome. I have great family members who have also been extremely supportive of me as I left for France, and who I know are always there for me when I come home. The count of cousins in my family is a little ridiculous, and I wouldn't want it any other way. I friggin' love the people I'm related to. Here's a picture of lasagna to represent my Italian family (though we're also quite a few other nationalities, Italian unites the two sides, alors!)

I'm not the best packer. I mean, I don't pack too much/too little, I just... take my time. And make a mess in the process. So, I'm like your average college student trying to pack. Here's an example of the volcanic explosion that was my room up until the day I left, plus the panic:

OH. Right. Learning. I really love learning. Like, a lot a lot. I'm a big nerd. English major/French minor/ Environmental Studies concentrator. I said I love life. I guess that requires having a lot of interests. Learning needs to be there then, too. Oh, and school. I love my school, even though I've left it for an academic year (insert The Terminator:) "I WILL BE BACHHHH(back)." These are my trademark college sweats. Not sure why I took a picture of them... but it came in handy, right?

So, that's some information about me. It doesn't say everything, but it's 1:22 am here and I do have class tomorrow... should probably go to bed soon.
Also, if you can't tell, I love food. I have over 100 pictures of food things to upload onto my food blog, so I may procrastinate sleep and start on that.. this summer I've been un peu parasseuse... not in the kitchen, but with the blog. Here's a link, you should enjoy good food too: http://messycollegekitchen.tumblr.com/

Coooooooooool beans. (I retain the right to say that because we have a cafe on campus called "coolbeans." So. No judgement.) Good night! I have more things to post but let's not go crazy now, shall we? Don't wanna overwhelm/bore anyone yet!!

From across the pond,
Alexandra!
